The Federal Government has approved the ninth and last evacuation flight to help convey stranded Nigerians in the United States of America due to the travel ban issues as a result of Covid -19.

Mr Benaoyagha Okoyen who is the Consul General of Nigeria in New York announced this in a statement dated on August 10th, 2020 on behalf of the mission's country in USA. 

The statement partly read; 
The flight is scheduled to convey the evacuees from New Jersey on August 20 to both Abuja and Lagos

It should be recalled that NAN had earlier reported that the seventh and eight evacuation flight scheduled for August 15th and 19th respectively from Houston, Texas would have to take off before the ninth and last flight. 

The government has succeeded in evacuating about 1,739 stranded Nigerians in six special flights from USA.

Meanwhile as at the time of filing this report, the United States of America is currently experiencing a second wave of the virus and the total number of confirmed and death cases have risen to 5,044,864 and 162, 938 respectively as compiled by John Hopkins University of Medicine
