The Federal Government and West African Examination Council has officially postponed the date for the  commencement of the West African Senior School Certificate  Examinations (WASSCE)  from August 4.

The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba announced on Friday that the new date for the exam has been scheduled to start on September 5th 2020.

He further explained that the decision was due to the outcome of the meeting between WAEC officials and the Federal Government on Monday. At the meeting both parties agreed to consult the other countries on the new examination date. 

The minister also revealed that all schools have been mandated by the government to get the school in the right shape by meeting the specific guidelines for the re-opening of schools on or before July 29th, 2020.

Mr Nwajiuba also urged schools to take a self-assessment and send the feedback to the state Ministries of Education on or before July 29th also.
